Welcome to the EHS boys lacrosse season. With tryouts starting Monday, here’s what you can expect over the next few weeks.
One scheduling note: There is no Booster Club meeting on Monday, April 11. The Faceoff Dinner will count as our monthly meeting.

Tues 4/5: Bus leaves EHS at 3:10 p.m. Tryouts @ Savage Sports dome 4-6pm. Bus returns at 6:40

Q. What happens during tryouts, and how are teams formed?
For information on team formation, attendance requirements and expectations, please see Coach Felter's team FAQ at eaganhslax.com.
Q. Where can players store their gear for tryouts during the school day?
For those boys who do not have a car available to store their lacrosse gear during school, the weight room will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning at 7:10 to store gear for the players. It will be open until 7:20 a.m., and then it will be locked up for the day. On Monday, the room will be opened back up by 1:55 until 2:05 p.m. so the players can pick up their equipment. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the captains will open the room right after school, and it will be open until 2:30 p.m..
Q. When are teams announced?
Teams are selected after the conclusion of Wednesday’s tryouts. An email announcing the rosters will be sent out late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning (depending on how difficult the selections are). Our advice: Don’t wait up for it. The news will be there by the time you wake up Thursday morning.
Q. What’s the first thing we should do when my player makes a team?
Go to eaganhslax.com and complete the 2016 Player Bio form, which provides information for the team program.
Q. If teams are selected Wednesday night, when and where do the boys start practice?
Team practices start Thursday after school on the fields at Northview Elementary. Coaches will let players know the practice times for each team.
Q. How do players get from school to practice?
Practices are at the fields at Northview Elementary, so players either drive or make the walk from EHS.
Q. Where do players change into gear for practice or games?
Usually at school or at the field. The lacrosse team does not have a locker room.
Q. Who will be coaching my son's team?
Coaches for each team will be introduced at the Faceoff Dinner on Tuesday, April 12. Bios of the coaches can be found here.
Q. What's the deal on Saturday's scrimmages?
The Varsity and JV teams have scrimmages this Saturday, April 9. There are not scrimmages for the 9/10 team.
Varsity: @St Louis Park High School
Games at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. & 2 p.m.
JV: @MacMurray Park in St Paul (Off Lexington just before Como Park)
Games at 12:30 p.m. & 1:30 p.m.
Transportation: There are no buses for scrimmages, so players and families should arrange their own transportation. Coaches will let players know this week how early players need to be at the fields and ready.
Q. When are jerseys handed out?
Jerseys will be distributed Thursday, April 7, after practice at the Wildcat Den, located just inside the East Entrance to EHS. The boys will need to bring with them a deposit check for $100, made out to EHS Lacrosse Booster Club. If your player misses practice that day or forgets the deposit check, they can contact Mark Schissel at 651-283-5921 to arrange for pick up of their jersey.
For varsity players only, shorts and shooter shirts will be distributed as well. Players should bring a separate $60 payment for those items.
Q. I ordered shorts earlier this year. When do I get them?
You can pay for and pick up shorts ordered earlier this winter through Coach Felter at the Faceoff Dinner.
Q. When are team pictures?
April 11: Varsity players should report to the Commons at 6 p.m. (so they have time to go home and shower after practice) for the team poster photos.
April 12: Team and individual photos for all teams will be taken before practice. Players should go to the space outside the commons (or inside in case of rain) at 2:45 p.m. A link to the order form for photos can be found on the eaganhslax.com homepage or here.
Q. Can I still order apparel?
The store at Lavin Lacrosse for parent and player apparel will be open April 6-13. You can find the store after April 6 at https://www.lavinlacrosse.com/pages/team-stores.
Q. What is the Faceoff Dinner and who goes?
The Faceoff Dinner is our season-opening celebration. All players and their parents are invited and encouraged to attend. We’ll introduce the coaches, and coaches will introduce the teams and talk about expectations for the season. This year’s Faceoff Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. in the EHS Commons on Tuesday, April 12.
Q. Who should attend Pasta Feeds, and how do boys get there?
Parents host pasta feeds every Wednesday during the regular season, starting April 20. They take place right after practice, so all players go straight to the dinners from the field (yes, it’s kinda gross, but also awesome). Upperclassmen take responsibility for ensuring that underclassmen get there.
Q. Where do the teams play their home games?
9/10: Games are played on the fields at Northview Elementary, off Diffley.
JV: Games are played at the field directly west of Wildcat Stadium.
Varsity: Games are played in Wildcat Stadium.
Q. How much is admission to games, and how do I get a sports pass?
Good News - District 196 is waiving all admissions costs for regular season games at all District 196 venues. This means admission this season is FREE!!! We are still on the hook for non-District 196 away games as well as any Sections playoff games.
Q. How do the teams get to away games?
Buses are provided, either by the school (varsity and JV) or the Booster Club (9/10), to get players to and from away games.
Q. What is Senior Night?
Senior Night, typically the last varsity home game of the season, is when we recognize the senior players and managers on the team. Players and fans are invited to stay after the conclusion of the game for a brief ceremony.
Q. When are Booster Club dues due, and how much will I owe?
Dues for booster club membership are $300, minus any discount for Ballard’s raffle ticket sales. 9/10 players will also owe a $120 fee to the Booster Club, offset by a refund of the $135 EHS activity fee. Payment is due at the Faceoff Dinner on April 12. More details on dues and other fees associated with participation in EHS boys lacrosse can be found here.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a Booster Club board member:
