My son made a team, now what?

Congratulations to all of the kids who went through tryouts out for the Eagan High School Lacrosse teams. We know how hard the kids have been working to get prepared for the season based on comments passed along from Ted Sperides at 6x6 Lacrosse as well as Dr Luke at SSTAR. Coaches too have mentioned how well prepared this class of kids have been coming into Tryouts. It takes a lot of courage to try out for High School teams.

Next Steps: Cory Powell did a really nice job laying out next steps for you earlier this week. That email can be viewed at the following:

http://www.eaganhslax.com/news_article/show/632213?referrer_id=1059715

Q. What’s the first things we need to do when my player makes a team?

ALL PLAYERS: Go to eaganhslax.com and complete the 2016 Player Bio form, which provides information for the team program. Bios are due by April 10.

JV PLAYERS: Immediately register here for the Homegrown MN Meltdown this Saturday. These are the JV Scrimmage games mentioned below. Due immediately.

9/10 PLAYERS: Please verify your son's US Lacrosse number is valid through the entire season by visiting www.uslacrosse.org and then forward their US Lacrosse number to Lois Davis, loisdavis@comcast.net. The 9/10 Team is insured through US Lacrosse and a valid membership good through the entire season is needed in order for your son to play on the 9/10 Team. Due immediately.

ALL PARENTS/PLAYERS/MANAGERS/COACHES: Attend the Faceoff Dinner this coming Tuesday, April 12th. PARENTS PLEASE BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK. We’ll introduce the coaches, and coaches will introduce the teams and talk about expectations for the season. This year’s Faceoff Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. in the EHS Commons on Tuesday, April 12.

Q. When/Where are next practices?

Team practices start Thursday (Today) after school on the fields at Northview Elementary. Coaches will let players know the practice times for each team.

Q. When are jerseys handed out?

Jerseys will be distributed Thursday (Today), April 7, after practice at the Wildcat Den, located just inside the East Entrance to EHS. The boys will need to bring with them a deposit check for $100, made out to EHS Lacrosse Booster Club. If your player misses practice that day or forgets the deposit check, they can contact Mark Schissel at 651-283-5921 to arrange for pick up of their jersey.

  • For varsity players only, shorts and shooter shirts will be distributed as well. Players should bring a separate $60 payment for those items.

Q. What's the deal on Saturday's scrimmages?

The Varsity and JV teams have scrimmages this Saturday, April 9. There are not scrimmages for the 9/10 team.

  • Varsity: @St Louis Park High School Games at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. & 2 p.m.
  • JV: @MacMurray Park in St Paul (Off Lexington just before Como Park) Games at 12:30 p.m. & 1:30 p.m. Players must be pre-registered through Homegrown Lacrosse (See "JV Players" note above)
  • Transportation: There are no buses for scrimmages, so players and families should arrange their own transportation. Coaches will let players know this week how early players need to be at the fields and ready.

Q. I ordered shorts earlier this year. When do I get them?

You can pay for and pick up shorts ordered earlier this winter through Coach Felter at the Faceoff Dinner.

Q. Where can I get team spirit gear?

The store at Lavin Lacrosse for parent and player apparel will be open April 6-13. You can find the store after April 6 at https://www.lavinlacrosse.com/pages/team-stores

Q. When are team pictures?

  • April 11: Varsity players should report to the Commons at 6 p.m. (so they have time to go home and shower after practice) for the team poster photos.
  • April 12: Team and individual photos for all teams will be taken before practice. Players should go to the space outside the commons (or inside in case of rain)  at 2:45 p.m. Order forms are available on the club web site homepage or at the following, http://www.eaganhs.portal.rschooltoday.com/page/6800

Q. Where do the teams play their home games?

  • 9/10: Games are played on the fields at Northview Elementary, off Diffley.
  • JV: Games are played at the field directly west of Wildcat Stadium.
  • Varsity: Games are played in Wildcat Stadium.

Q. When are first games?

Our first games begin April 14th at home versus East Ridge. Full schedules for all three teams are now up on www.eaganhslax.com, please check online for schedules, stats and scores and more.

Q. How much is admission to games, and how do I get a sports pass?

9/10 and JV games are free. Admission to varsity games is $7 for adults, $5 for students. A sports pass can be purchased at the Faceoff Dinner (or in the EHS office) for $60. The pass is good for all regular-season games at all District 196 schools including any away games at Apple Valley, Rosemount, Eastview.

Q. What are Player Ads?

Player Ads are small ad blurbs posted inside the game programs distributed at the Varsity games. Typically seniors/parents place player ads in the programs but they are open to anyone who wishes to purchase a player ad. Email photo (jpg) and statement of 25 words or less to jennifervecellio@comcast.net. Pictures/statements due April 10th. Cost: $25 – make check payable to EHS Boys Lacrosse Booster Club and bring to the Faceoff Dinner on April 12.
